Start with these certifications in your project management career!

To achieve the apex of their fields, project managers need a lot of job experience and technical certificates. For professionals employed as project managers, CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) and PMP (Project Management Professional) are two of the most widely sought after qualification courses. If it's the CAPM course or the PMP Certification, all have their benefits in terms of certification's long-term relativity and have a huge influence on your career advancement.

Although CAPM (Certified Project Management Associate) is for the fresh blood, PMP (Project Management Professional) is for project managers who have been in the field for a few years now and have extensive experience under their belt.

Keep this in mind before applying for CAPM

For project managers with less experience as well as existing project managers, CAPM or Accredited Associate in Project Management is an entry level qualification. Doing the CAPM course will provide your resume with an edge and help you land projects that will boost your career further.

  • You should have a certificate in high school (Secondary Education)
  • As a project manager, you should have 1500 hours of work experience.
  • As is the case for PMP, there are no minimum year limitations.
  • The 23-hour study programme you should have completed

Keep this in mind before applying for PMP

Provided you meet certain basic eligibility criteria for the course, applying for PMP is not a concern. PMP assesses your ability to withstand job pressure, competence, team management, and experience when it comes to project management, which provides you with the PMI courses to successfully complete.

  • Either a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree should be issued.
  • You should have a minimum of 5 years of experience and 7500 hours of experience as a project manager for diploma holders.
  • You should have at least 3 years of experience and 4500 hours of experience as a project manager for bachelor's degree holders.
  • You should have completed the PMBoK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) 35-hour study programme.
