Whether it is a Project manager or the business Analyst each plays an important role in a project. While the Business analyst leads to fulfilling requirements like solution generation, communication with business users whereas the Project Manager leads the project from initiation, planning to execute, monitoring, and closing. There may be variation in the role of each from company to company.

Business Analyst verses Project Manager:

As the role varies from company to company, it is very difficult to understand what exactly the role of both the professions is. As described by the PMI guide, the following are the responsibilities of the Business Analyst -:
  • Identify the problem, evaluate it, and derive a proper solution.
  • Communication skills.
  • The skill of problem-solving.
  • Try to implements the solutions.
There are many other requirements but above mentioned are the ones that overlap with the Project Manager.

Project Manager's role is concerned with project plans and outcomes. One can opt for the PMP course that would help the person to excel in the job field.

3 steps to transit from BA to project manager:
  1. Start getting the experience working with change control – the changing control system helps the workers to gather feedback on quality obtained.
  2. One needs to understand the difference between the BA and a project manager – As both the professions are equally involved in the project completion thus, one needs to understand what and how a person is asked to work on the same.
  3. Learn and grow as a Project Manager – Working in the project together, a business analyst can easily grasp the basic job roles that are performed by the project manager. Even one can opt for the PMP course which will help them to learn and grow as a project manager.
From the above steps mentioned this would be very much clear that one could easily transit himself/ herself from a Business Analyst to a Project Manager. The only requirement is to understand the concept deeply and thoroughly. Some steps would work for transition in the opposite scene.

In such a case, you need to do a Business Analyst Certification to gather a better understanding of the topic.
