Top 5 project management certification and their basics




1.      PMP (Project Management Professional): The PMP certification has one of the most difficult to crack. The PMP exam tests your skills and knowledge of project management concepts and terminology.

·         Exam Fee - $405 for members and $555 for non-PMI members.
·         Prerequisites – Secondary degree, 7500 hours in direct and leading projects and 35 hours of mandatory PMP training.
·         Exam Pattern – 200 multiple-choice questions.
·         Exam Duration – 4 hours.
·         Maintenance – 60 PDUs every 3 years.

2.       PMI-ACP (Agile Certified Professional): The PMI-ACP gets you the tools and fundamentals of Agile and you will get to methods to work efficiently on agile projects.

·         Prerequisites – 2000 hours of project management experience, 1500 hours of agile experience and 21 hours contact hours of agile practices.

·         Prerequisites – Secondary diploma with 1500 hours of project management experience or 23 contact hours of Project management education.

·         Maintenance – Retake the exam in every 3 years.

The below mentioned credentials are fairly less popular than the PMP certification, ACP and CAPM, but hold equal importance.

4.       Certified Scrum Master (CSM): The certification is ranked amongst the best project management credentials for scrum professionals across the globe.

·         Exam Fee – Depends on the training institute.
·         Prerequisites – None.
·         Exam Pattern – 16 hours (2 days) and 50 multiple-choice questions.
·         Exam Duration – 60 minutes.
·         Maintenance – Earn appropriate SEUs and renew certification every 2 years.

5.       Project IN Controlled Environments (PRINCE2):The project management certification is best suitable for applicants in the European sectors.

·         Exam Fee - $405 for members and $555 for non-PMI members.
·         Prerequisites – PRINCE2 foundation certification for PRINCE2 practitioners. 
·         Exam Pattern – 60 questions in PRINCE2.
·         Exam Duration – 60 minutes.
·         Maintenance – 20 CPDs every year.
